The Physics Department at the University of Oviedo is the body responsible for organising and developing research, teaching and coordinating teaching in the areas of astronomy and astrophysics; applied physics; condensed matter physics; theoretical physics and atomic, molecular and nuclear physics, in the designated university centres, in accordance with the university’s teaching programme, as well as supporting and promoting the teaching and research activities and initiatives of the teaching staff.

It has teaching activities in 9 university centres for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. These centres belong to five campuses of the University of Oviedo, located in three cities in Asturias: Oviedo, Gijón and Mieres.
