The Sports Service is the body responsible for the promotion, organisation, and development of sport at the University of Oviedo. Its aim is to make available to the university community the different forms of sporting practice, as well as to disseminate the different aspects of physical education and sport. The aim is to improve the health and quality of life and the integral training of the members of the university community and to promote the study of everything related to physical education and sport.

The University of Oviedo has special scholarships for top-level sportsmen and women and offers official credit recognition to those students who practice certain disciplines at a competitive level. In addition, the institution promotes the practice of sports among its staff and organises activities such as the Summer Campuses aimed at children aged between 6 and 12.
The promotion of healthy habits is one of the constant concerns of the Sports Service, which every year organises various campaigns and awareness-raising activities on the university campuses.
