Dissemination, together with education and scientific communication, is one of the pillars on which the scientific literacy of society is based, being necessary for citizens to be more critical and responsible in decision-making and to be more committed to the current challenges of a globalised society. In this context, the University of Oviedo has been leading the dissemination of science and innovation in Asturias for more than twenty years. Proof of this was the creation, in 2001, of the Observatory of Scientific Culture, currently the UCC+I of the UO, which coordinates actions for the general dissemination of scientific knowledge in our institution.
The activities of the UCC+I include, within the general chapters of communication, dissemination and training on social aspects of science, technology and innovation, specific initiatives such as the organisation of the Science and Technology Week of the University of Oviedo, the European Researchers' Night, the Science Campuses or the Tour with Science, among many others.
