The University of Oviedo organises lectures, university extension courses and summer programmes that contribute to complete the education of its students and of Asturian society in general and which can be validated by ECTS (renewed teaching).
University extension is one of the most deeply rooted activities at the University of Oviedo, which was founded in Spain in 1898. It is a contribution to the social, cultural, and economic development of Asturias through the dissemination of science, culture, and art, and is conducted through courses, conferences, and all kinds of cultural and educational activities, with its own resources or in collaboration with public or private entities.
As a rule, these courses and activities are open access activities. In those cases, in which this is foreseen, attendance and participation may lead to the recognition of ECTS credits (in renewed courses) or free-elective credits (courses not adapted to the EHEA). The offer includes university extension courses, with very varied and current content; professional refresher courses; university extension courses offered in the territory of the autonomous community.
