The Jovellanos Faculty of Commerce, Tourism and Social Sciences in Gijón offers university studies related to the management of companies and public bodies, especially in the fields of commerce, tourism, and state administration. Social work studies are also addressed.
The faculty, formerly the Jovellanos University School of Gijón, was founded in 1899 and brings together all the training related to social studies (social work) and management (in the fields of business, tourism, and state administration) of the University of Oviedo on the Gijón Campus.
It is located in the Technological-Business Campus of Gijón, where it occupies a privileged place within the premises of Laboral, City of Culture. Its facilities include 40 classrooms and 11 Seminar-Meeting Rooms, all equipped with the most modern audiovisual equipment (computer, video projector, screen, and Internet access), 6 computer rooms (with 144 computers) for practical classes, 3 computer rooms that are permanently open to students (with 76 computers) and a magnificent library with a capacity for more than 60,000 volumes and more than 200 study places. It also has an Assembly Hall for conferences, celebrations, and other events, with 150 seats.
