The INGENIUM Alliance invites students from all partner universities to participate in an open hackathon to explore, reflect, and create innovative solutions for a more sustainable campus life.
A hackathon (from the English words “hack” - program creatively - and “marathon”) is an activity to promote collaboration and learning, where participants work in teams for a limited time to create innovative solutions for a given challenge. The theme of this call will be the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.
For two days and in a fully online format, students from different linguistic, academic, and cultural backgrounds will work together to tackle a topic of their choice related to the economic, environmental, or social aspects of sustainable development in universities. Each team will then present their solutions to representatives of local authorities linked to the INGENIUM Alliance.
The winning team will receive an invitation to the University of Rouen-Normandy (France) during the next Summer Junior School of the 10 Days of INGENIUM, which will take place at the university between May 27 and May 31. Moreover, their project will be included in the INGENIUM Sustainable Development Goals and in the European Green Deal Agenda for long-term implementation.
The hackathon will run on an intensive schedule, from 8:00am to 5:30pm, on April 17 and 18. To take part, the only requirements are to be a student at any level (from undergraduate to doctoral) in one of the 10 INGENIUM universities and demonstrate a B2 level of English. Registration must be done through the INGENIUM application portal by Friday, February 2.
