Universia has awarded three teachers from the University of Oviedo because of their digital dissemination of teaching materials

Web Server Administration and Crystallography have got several mentions due to OCW (OpenCourseWare) initiative in the IV Edition of ME- UNIVERSIA prizes

The IT teachers, José Manuel Redondo López and Francisco Ortín Soler, and the teacher of Geology, Celia Marcos Pascual, all of them from the University of Oviedo, have obtained several mentions in the 2010's edition of ME-UNIVERSIA prizes because of the OCW initiative. These are prizes which aim to promote the open digital dissemination of teaching materials, which have to be structured in subjects and used by the teaching staff of Spanish universities.

These prizes were given in the framework of the XI General Board of Universia's stockholders, which took place in Zaragoza. Every mention will be endowed with 3,000 Euros and a diploma for the authors of the awarded subject. José Manuel Redondo López and Francisco Ortín Soler have elaborated the contents for Web Server Administration, which participated in the knowledge area of Engineering and Architecture. Celia Marcos Pascual is in charge of the contents of Crystallography, included in the knowledge area of Sciences.

Both these and about other twenty subjects count with open materials to everybody in the OCW website of the University of Oviedo which is managed by the Innovation Centre of the University. This is a worldwide initiative which began in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2001 and which was developed by a group of universities with international prestige around the OpenCouseWare Consortium. The University of Oviedo was the first organization in adapting and using Moodle as OCW website. It lets teaching staff publish contents in a comfortable and flexible platform, and it has become a reference model for many universities. These subjects are, likewise, visible in OpenCourseWare Universia's website.
