The previous head of the Department of Counselling and Access has replaced Susana López Ares

The teacher of Statistics and, until now, head of the Department of Counselling and Access of the University of Oviedo, Luis Rodríguez Muñiz, is the new vice-rector for Students and Employment, post in which he has replace Susana López Ares, who last Friday made her dismissal official.

The appointment of Rodríguez Muñiz will ensure the continuity in the management of the Vice-rector's office within a compact team which also includes the heads of the Department of the University Services, Eduardo Rodríguez Enríquez; Employability, Guillermo Pérez- Bustamante and Halls of residence, José Alejo Rueda.

Luis Rodríguez Muñiz has been in charge of the Department of Counselling and Access of the University of Oviedo for three years, so it has an absolute knowledge of how the Vice-rector's office for Students and Employment works. From his previous position, Rodrígua Muñiz has been actively involved in the adaptation to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and has been in charge of the coordination of the access to University, including the implementation of the new entrance test model, which came into effect last year, and the Entrance Exam for people older than 25, older than 25 and older than 40 with professional experience. He is also responsible for the college counselling programme, a key element in working with all levels of Secondary School.

The appointment of Muñiz Rodríguez reflects the wish of the Rector's office of ensuring a relay agreed by the staff of the Vice-rector's office for Student and Employment to keep on with the work that has been developed in all areas, something specially important at the moment with the Entrance Exams so close, whose calls are held for the first time in early June and July.
