The Autonomous Organization of European Educational Programmes (OAPEE) has guaranteed the University of Oviedo that "in no case are the Erasmus grants at risk of disappearing, neither for this edition, nor for 2013". For that, the OAPEE makes an appeal to students and their families to keep calm with respect to the continuity of the Erasmus program.

The entity managing the grants of the Erasmus program in Spain has contacted the Asturian academic institution to clarify that the budgetary problems the European Commission is going through are "exceptional" and they hope it will be solved throughout November.

Furthermore, the Autonomous Organization of European Educational Programmes points out that the outstanding payments of the program for the 2012-2013 academic year, which amount to a 20% of the total amount, will be made in the usual installments, after receiving the corresponding interim evaluation reports in April, 2013.

The University of Oviedo welcomes around 500 foreign students attending classes in Asturias with a Erasmus grant. On the other hand, there are more than 600 students from the Asturian academic institution who will benefit this year from the grant program to study in any European university.
