The former commissioner of Social Affairs and Education and former Vice President of the European Commission, Manuel Marín, has been in charge of opening this morning the closing sessions of the Live Europe project, an initiative supported by the European Commission's Jean Monnet Action. The University of Oviedo is holding, until tomorrow, Tuesday, a conference in recognition to the Erasmus Program, which will be now 25 years old and which has provided numerous youngsters with a new way of thinking and living Europe.

The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, thanked Manuel Marín for his presence in the Historic Building's Auditorium to give the opening speech entitled EL ERASMUS: a successful program in Europe. The President of the General Assembly of the Principality of Asturias, Pedro Sanjurjo, accompanied the former President of the Parliament during his speech.

The conference focuses on the discussion and debate of the main aspects of the program and its development, according to how the people directly involved in it have seen or lived it (managers, coordinators and students).
