The University of Oviedo holds an encounter of experts in the use of new technologies in education

Teachers from nine European universities begin in Asturias a joint project for designing resources and contents of subjects in Open Course Ware

The University of Oviedo holds from today, Wednesday, 5 December, and until next Friday, the first encounter of the European project Social Networks for Teachers (SoNeTe). Nine European universities are participating in this initiative to promote the creation of contents in Open Course Ware which should strengthen the international exchange network for students and teachers involved in the Master's Degree in Teacher Training in Secondary and Upper Secondary education and Vocational Training. The University of Oviedo is the only Spanish academic institution taking part in this project, led by the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).

The meeting in Asturias is the starting point of SoNeTe. During 36 months, the participants in the project will be designing contents and materials in Open Course Ware that will make it possible to exchange experiences from different countries and thus analyze the impact of this platform and social networks in teaching methods. Furthermore, SoNeTe will open the door to Primary and Secondary education teachers who want to focus their PhD theses on this field.

Together with the Universities of Oviedo and Groningen, the project also counts with the collaboration of the Universities of Tartu (Estonia), Ratisbona (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic), Coimbra (Portugal), Trento (Italy), Joensuu (Finland), the Eszterházy Károly College (Hungary) and the University of Cumbria (UK).
