More than half of the students of the University of Oviedo, 57%, that have participated in the program of grants at the Interamerican Bank for Development in Washington have continued their career at the prestigious institution. The Rector, Vicente Gotor, remarked this morning the excellent results of the formative program funded by the Banco Sabadell Herrero Foundation in a meeting in which the general director of the Banco Sabadell Herrero, Pablo Junceda, was also present.

The meeting between the receivers of the IBD grants was also used to present the three new beneficiaries of the program, who will travel this year to Washington to conduct six-month internships at different departments of the IBD.

Gotor encouraged the alumni of the institution to "continue setting the bar so high for the University, because it is an incredible added value for us" and congratulated those who are now developing their careers in the United States for maintaining their links to the University of Oviedo.

In turn, Pablo Junceda ensured his support to the program of grants for graduates because "our privilige to this great University is very strong". Moreover, the director of the Banco Sabadell Herrero highlighted the importance of international experience in personal and professional trajectories, but encouraged young people to "return, even if not physically, and provide this land with value and ideas".

The grants at the IBD are aimed at last-year students, and to graduates of the University of Oviedo who have completed their studies in the past 5 years. The grant covers a stay at the United States during six months. The scholarship also covers the plane ticket to and from Washington and a monthly salary of €1,650 for accommodation and food.
