The Campus of International Excellence has to the unanimous support of the Monitoring Committee
The University of Oviedo has presented the 2010's report of the CIE and the proposals for 2011.
"A positive balance and the unanimous recognition of the work developed by the rector's team". These were the impressions shared by the rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor and the president of the Principality of Asturias in the press conference after the meeting.
The rector described as "satisfactory" the outcome of the meeting, in which the rector's team presented the activities developed by the CIE in 2010 as well as the execution of the budget in a "crystal-clear way".
On the other hand, Álvarez Areces stressed the merit of the Asturian University, which in spite of the financial problems, "still maintains its challenges for the future" and "has been able to articulate three excellent campuses, something that few Spanish Universities have made". In this sense, he added that "in crisis circumstances, the University is the headquarters in which efforts must be placed so as to open a new path"; a support that, following Areces' opinion, must be given by institutions, companies and Asturian society.
The practical totality of the members of the Monitoring Committee, a body responsible of boosting the relationship among CIE with territory and society, co-chaired by the rector of the University of Oviedo and the president of the Principality and composed by Town-councils, Commerce Chambers, FADE, Cajastur, CCOO and UGT Union trades as well as representatives from the academic Institution and University of Oviedo Foundation attended this morning's meeting.
