Diana Sorensen, Dean of Arts and Humanitites at Harvard University, gives the opening lecture of the summer courses

The Rector presides over the opening ceremony of the summer activities, which include more than 80 courses

The University of Oviedo holds the opening ceremony of summer courses (Wednesday, 6 June, 19:30 pm) in LAUDEO's Auditorium, Cultural Centre of University Extension (Historic Building). The ceremony, which will be presided over by Vicente Gotor Santamaría, Rector of the University, will count on the participation of the Dean of Arts and Humanities at Harvard University, Diana Sorensen, who will give the lecture The Humanities at the University and in American societies.

Last Monday, the summer activity of the University of Oviedo, with more than 80 courses which will be taught in different centres of Asturias, began. The courses deal with varied themes from all areas of knowledge, and raise questions of economy, the environment, literature, cinema, health, engineering, IT, jurisprudence or sports.

Around 20 programs already have their vacancies filled but there are still some left for the rest. The registration period will be open until a few days before the beginning of each course in case there are still vacancies.
