The submission of applications in the corresponding departments and institutes can be made from 3 to 16 October, 2012
The University of Oviedo, through the International Postgraduate Centre (CIP) announces a new edition of the Extraordinary PhD Awards.
Around 200 doctoral theses will take part in this call. It has to do with the theses defended during the 2010-2011 academic year and awarded summa cum laude by agreement of the committee and the ones defended in the 2009-2010 academic year and which could not apply in the previous editions because the minimum of theses read in the corresponging departments and institutions was not reached.
The theses applying to the Extraordinary PhD Awards will be assessed by the departments and institutions concerned. The main evaluation criteria will take into account the scientific quality and originality of the work, the publications derived from the theses and the ones related to them as well as the number of authors who have published them and their relation with the PhD thesis.
Those doctors whose thesis has been selected and wish to take part in the current edition will have to submit their application at the corresponding Department or Insitute from 3 to 16 October.
The Extraordinary PhD Awards are given in recognition of the study and research carried out. Their granting, apart from the corresponding certificate, goes hand in hand with the qualification of Doctor for free. The presentation of these awards will take place next 28 January, 2013, festivity of Santo Tomás de Aquino, during the celebration of the solemn ceremony at the University of Oviedo's Auditorium.
