The University of Oviedo holds the I Doctoral Conference of the Group G-9

The encounter aims to boost the relationship between PhD students and companies to offer a career opportunity to the innovative labour of scientists

The University of Oviedo will hold tomorrow Thursday and on Friday at the Campus of Mieres the first edition of of the Doctoral Conference of the Group G-9 of Universities. This initiative aims to facilitate an encounter between PhD students, disseminate the results of their research, offer students professional alternatives for the development of a university research career and stress their role as companies' innovation carriers.

More than a hundred researchers from the Universities of Navarra, Illes Balears, Castilla-La Mancha, Rioja, Cantabria and Oviedo will take part in the program, which combines lectures, panels and interactive sessions. Throughout these two days of work, the main theme will be social innovation understood as the development of new ideas (products, services amd models) to satisfy social needs.

The Conference will also include the exhibition of explanatory posters with the contents of the theses and the advances in the research undergone by the PhD students. These posters will be assessed by a jury and the PhD students participating in the Conference, which will award two prizes: one by the jury and the other by the participants, both of them of 300 euros and a certificate.

The I Doctoral Conference of the Group G-9 counts with the auspice of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Oviedo. The Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies, Covadonga Betegón, and the Head of the International Postgraduate Centre, Carmen Bermejo, will be in charge of opening the encounter. The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, the General Director of Universities of the Principality of Asturias, Miriam Cueto, and the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies, Covadonga Betegón, will be in charge of the closure next friday.
