The exhibition can be visited until next Friday at the Historic Building
The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, has opened this morning the exhibition which celebrates the 50 years of existence of the University of Oviedo's football team. The Delegate of the Rector for the Area of Sports and Health, Miguel del Valle, and the Vice-Rector for University Extension and Communication, Vicente Domínguez, accompanied the Rector in the opening ceremony.
Donzens of players, former players and fans of the university team have come to LAUDEO Exhibition Hall to attend its opening and visit a part of the exhibition with around a hundred photographs of the team throughout these 50 years, a choice of the different strips, some of the most prestigious trophies and a video with the images of significant matches in the recent history of the team.
Vicente Gotor showed his satisfaction for celebrating the anniversary of "a team which has pleased us apart from embodying the best university spirit". Besides,he took advantage of the situation to highlight the numerous distinctions the university team has been given for its sportsmanship. Gotor congratulated the technical team and those who have been part of it during these years and reminded them that the climax of this week of celebrations will be the football matches against Real Sporting and Real Oviedo's former players.
The Vice-Rector for University Extension and Communication, Vicente Domínguez, stressed the work carried out by those who have made the effort to collect all the material present in the exhibition and appreciated the collaboration and initiative taken by the former players of the Uni, who have worked intensively to find photographs and memorabilia from the first years of the team. For his part, Miguel del Valle praised the team's exemplary trajectory during half a century highlighting the numerous prizes won in the different categories.
The exhibition celebrating the Uni's anniversary can be visited in the exhibition hall at the Historic Building until next Friday with free entrance. The celebration of the 50 years of the team will come to a close on Saturday with a fraternal meal between managers, players and fans of all ages, in which more than a hundred people are thought to participate.
