They recommend similar processes, framed in the Campus of Excellence's initiative, in the University Strategy 2015 report.
The fusion of 15 university schools and faculties in six big centres, performed by the University of Oviedo in the framework of the CEI's hallmark, is an example to follow. This is the recommendation which has been suggested by specialists of the University Strategy 2015 report. A document which recommends long-term improvement ways and strategies for Spanish Universities.
The report has been elaborated by an international commission of five experts, by previous requirement of the Ministry of Education. After more than a year of work, it was presented last Monday by the representative of Education, Ángel Gabilondo. The advisability of undertaking strategic mergers of universities and/ or research institutions –strongly boosted by the Campus of International Excellence- appeared among the 25 recommendations included in the document.
The University of Oviedo is an example in this kind of processes as from that reorganization, the new Faculty of Economics and Business, the Polytechnic Schools of Engineering of Gijón and Mieres and the faculties of Teaching training and Education, Philosophy and letters, and Medicine and Sciences of Health.
