The thesis by Alfredo Ferrante, defended at the University of Oviedo in 2010, has been granted the 15th Sancho Rebullida Award, which is annually given by the Faculty of Law of the University of Navarra in memory of the civilist, a prestigious tenured professor of Civil Law. The Francisco de Asís Sancho Rebullida Award distinguishes the best PhD Thesis on the field of Civil Law defended in Spain, or abroad if its author is Spanish.

Alfredo Ferrante based his PhD Thesis on La determinación y reducción del precio de la compraventa, and it was directed by the tenured professor of Law of the University of Oviedo Ramón Durán Rivacoba and the tenured professor of Market Law María Isabel Huerta Viesca. It was defended on October 27, 2010, and it was graded with a Sobresaliente Cum Laude. The award will be given next February, during the celebration of the patron saint of the Faculty of Law, Saint Raimond of Peñafort.

The jury of this 15th edition has been composed by the following tenured professors of Civil Law: the president, Gabriel García Cantero, of the University of Zaragoza, and the board members Miguel Ángel Pérez Álvarez (University of A Coruña), Isabel González Pacanowska (University of Murcia) y María Ángeles Parra Lucán (University of Zaragoza). The secretary was Pedro de Pablo Contreras, of the University of La Rioja.

The award grants the winner €6,000, donated by the Caja Navarra Foundation, a certification diploma given by the Faculty of Law of the University of Navarra and the publication of the thesis by the Thomson Reuteurs-Aranzadi publishing house.

Ferrante has been a lawyer since 2001 and a teacher at the University of Oviedo since 2004, where he lectured until 2012. He is currently an associated professor at the University of Gerona.

He was given the Bachelor's Award by the University of Pisa for his "Laurea" in Law. He also has a Spanish Bachelor's Degree in Law at the University of Oviedo, and he completed his European PhD Cum Laude at the University of Oviedo with the thesis now awarded.

He has gone on research stays at institutions such as the Université Sorbonne, Institut Suisse de Droit Comparé, Max Plank Institut, Cambridge University and Columbia Law School. Moreover, he has attended talks in international congresses and has published in several countries. Among others, he is a member of the European Law Institute, the European Institute of Private and Comparative Law of the University of Girona and the Chair of Commercial Distribution of the Ramón Areces Foundation.
