Conferences, debates, colloquia, meetings with experts and a film cycle will bring the winners of the Prince of Asturias Awards closer to the Asturian audiences. Entrance to almost all of the acts, organized by the Prince of Asturias Foundation in collaboration with the Asturian academic institution, is free until maximum capacity is reached.
The Prince of Asturias Awards for Scientific and Technial Research, Arts, Literature, International Cooperation and Social Sciences will visit the University of Oviedo to lead different cultural and scientific activities in the university campuses and in the LAUDEO Cultural Center (Historical Building). This robust program is the result of the collaboration between the Prince of Asturias Foundation, organizer of the Awards, and the Asturian academic institution.
The Week of the Prince of Asturias Awards at the University of Oviedo includes different activities open to the public that will allow them to, for example, listen to Peter Higgs and François Englert, who have just received the Nobel Price for Physics, and the research director of the CERN, Sergio Bertolucci; know firsthand how the Max Planck Institute works, one of the international referents in terms of research; enjoy the word of Antonio Muñoz Molina, or get to know the universe of Michael Haneke, winner of an Oscar in 2013 for his movie Amour.
The activities will bring the winners to different campuses to participate in the acts directed, in most cases, to students and young researchers, but also to a general audience. The sole act with restrict access will be the work breakfast with sociologist Saskia Sassen with teachers and researchers at the Faculty of Economics and Enterprise. The scheduled acts of the award-winners at the University of Oviedo have been preceded by a film cycle devoted to Michael Haneke in Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés.
