A massive influx of audience interested in experimentation attended the six workshops, organized by the OTRI in collaboration with a dozen of scientists from the University of Oviedo
The fourth edition of the Researchers' Night gathered this afternoon hundreds of children who went to the Conde de Toreno Palace to participate in some of the scheduled workshops. Are shadows truly black? Can water turn blue by just shaking it? These were some of the questions that were answered by these kids thanks to the initiative promoted by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Research and Campus of International Excellence to bring children and youths closer to science.
From 6 PM to 10 PM, a dozen of researchers from the University of Oviedo conducted six workshops that brought to the audience simple experiments that helped them get to know better some natural phenomena. Biologists, physicists, geologists and chemists were in charge of guiding the children through some of the secrets of the world around them. Throughout the evening, the scientists explained simple concepts and experiments to bring them closer to the figure of the researcher and their work. The workshops scheduled for this edition are: Viaje al interior del cerebro, La energía de la luz, Química y medicamentos, El color de la Química, Magnetismo… ¡te atrae! y Viaje al centro de la tierra.
The Researchers' Night, organized by the Unit of Scientific Culture of the Research Transfer Office, is an initiative of scientific dissemination that took place simultaneously in 29 Spanish cities and which has been funded by the Seventh Framework Program of the EU.
