Members of the artistic and technical teams of each show will analyze, alongside the public and university teachers, each of the five stagings
The second edition of the Encuentros Ópera Universidad, which starts next Friday, September 13, allow the public again this year to approach the five stagings planned by the 66th season of the Opera of Oviedo, alongside their protagonists (singers, musical directors, scenographers, etc.), and also with the analysis provided by the teachers of the academic institution.
The University of Oviedo and the Opera of Oviedo offer the Asturian public an open and fluid dialog about each of the operas on stage, bringing in the artistic and technical vision of the team in charge of each of the stagings. The Opera University Meetings are born with the objective of bringing the public closer to this genre, seeking its participation.
Thus, the fans can pose first-hand their questions about the most various aspects of the plays: their themes, the conflicts and passions that move their characters, their relations with history, art, literature and cinema. But they can also ask about, for example, how singers prepares themselves to get into character, what techniques are employed by a director to construct environments or how the clothes are planned and made.
The LAUDEO Cultural Center (Historical Building) will host the dialogs about each of the five plays programed at the Aula Magna, and the entrance will be free of charge of anyone interested in attending. Moreover, this year, two sessions of the Opera University Meetings will be hosted at the Old Institute of Gijón.
The first meeting of this season will be centered on Das Rheingold, by Richard Wagner. Starting at 19:00 at the Aula Magna of the Historical Building, musical Director Guillermo García Calvo and the protagonist of the opera, el bass-baritone Tomás Tómasson, will reveal some of the keys of this first staging of the season, which will debut next Sunday at the Campoamor Theater. They will be accompanied by Socorro Suárez Lafuente, Tenured Professor of English Philology of the University of Oviedo.
Furthermore, honoring the agreement between the University and the Opera of Oviedo Foundation, groups of students from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters may attent the general rehersals of the operas.
