The University organizes an exhibition on the evolution of Computer Sciences

The exhibition, which will be open until September 13th, has been curated in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the School of Computer Science Engineering

The University of Oviedo has inaugurated the exhibition titled 30 Years of Computer Science Engineering, which may be visited at the Exhibition Hall of LAUDEO Cultural Center of University Extension (Historical Building), starting on August 19 and ending on September 13th. The core of this exhibition, which has been curated in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the School of Computer Science Engineering, is based on a chronological display of the most important advaces that have taken place throughout the past three decades.

The exhibition also includes other interesting aspects of the evolution of Computer Sciences, including brief histories of Intel microprocessors and storage devices. Following that, and paying homage to the decade of 1980's, when the School was created, there is an area devoted to the golden age of video games.

In said area, we can find some microcomputers of old, like the ZX Spectrum, as well as some video games and magazines that represent that then-booming process. Lastly, the exhibition features a documentary that, in a simple and precise way, explains the history of Computer Sciences, their relevance in today's world and their importance for the future of our society.

Computer Sciences have developed very fast since the second half of the 20th Century. Nevertheless, three relatively recent advances have turned them into a central aspect of our lives: the development of the integrated circuit, Internet and mobile devices.

The opening hours will be, on Mondays to Fridays, from 11:00 to 14:00 during August, and during September both in the morning and the afternoon, from 11:00 to 14 and from 17:00 to 20:00.
