A research on the condification of messages, by students of the IES Jovellanos, and another one on the bovine sector in Valdés, by students of the IES Carmen y Severo Ochoa, will compete next week at the finals of the contests at the University of Santiago
Asturias will compete in the national phase of the "Incubadora de experimentos y sondeos" contest with two statistical researches that touch upon two very different topics. Investigación operativa para la codificación y decodificación de mensajes is the project that won in the category of students of Baccalaureate in the final phase, which took place today at the Main Hall of the Historical Building. Carlos González, Julián Lomas and Pablo Pelaez, all students of the IES Jovellanos, will attend the finals of the contest next week, which will take place at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Teams from seven autonomous communities will compete in the final phase of the contest.
The Principality will also be represented by the team from the IES Carmen y Severo Ochoa with their work El sector bovino en el concejo de Valdés. The winning research in the category of students of 1st and 2nd years of the ESO has been conducted by Nayma Feito, Paula Fernández, Ricardo Manuel González y Paula Peláez. Finally, the jury awarded the first prize in the category of students of 3rd and 4th years of the ESO to the research titled Hábitos alimenticios en nuestro instituto, conducted by Joshua Arne, Jiahui Ji and Sergio Fernández, students of the IES of Infiesto.
The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, presided over the award ceremony of the contest this afternoon, accompanied by the general director of Professional Education, Curricular Development and Educational Innovation, Sara Álvarez Morán, and the Director of the Department of Statistics and Operative and Didactic Research, Manuel Montenegro. The latter made the call for the new edition of the contest for the next academic course and congratulated all the contestants for the quality of their studies and presentations. The regional phase of the contest was organized by the Department of Statistics and Operative and Didactic Research with the support of the Council for Education, Culture and Sports of the Principality of Asturias.
