In this event, held in the Paraninfo, the deans and directors of departments and centers took office

The University of Oviedo has awarded the retired lectures and services and administration staff with gold and silver badges of the academic institution, and also posthumously to the families of those university students deceased throughout the academic year. The rector, Vicente Gotor, chaired the event, in which eleven deans and directors of departments and centers of the Asturian academic institution took office.

The event, also attended by the members of the rector´s office, and the councilor for Education, Culture and Sports, Ana González, also served as a tribute to all the members of the university community who have been working in this institution for 35 and 25 years. The Rector thanked all the lecturers and the services and administration staff for all their effort and dedication throughout these years, and he also dedicated a few words to Santos José López and Carlos de Llanos, whose families received the insignias posthumously.

The Rector congratulated those holding new academic positions, and encouraged them to keep working on the improvement and progress of the University of Oviedo. "We all share the same will", he said, "let the University make advances and achieve best quality education, excellence research and commitment to society".
