Professor Alfredo Sanz Medel awarded with the Prestigious CSI 2015 International Prize
This important award provides recognition to the trajectory of the Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the field of Applied Spectroscopy
The Scientific Commission of the Colloquium Spectroscopicum Internationale, CSI has decided to give the CSI 2015 Award to Professor Alfredo Sanz Medel, Full Professor of the Department of Analytical and Physical Chemistry of the University of Oviedo. This award is based on the advances in knowledge carried out by researchers of excellence in the field of Applied Spectroscopy.
The prize awarded to Prof. Sanz-Medel in 2015 had been awarded in previous editions to the most renowned researchers in this scientific field, like Professors Gary M. Hieftje (University of Indiana, USA), James D. Winefordner (University of Florida, USA) and Ramon Barnes (University of Massachusetts, USA).
It is worth mentioning that such Colloquium Spectoscopicum Internationale is the most prestigious Conference on Analytical Spectroscopy (Applied) worldwide. Every two years it gathers more than 500 researchers and experts from all parts of the world, who work in that field and it has been delivered since the end of Second World War (when possible) in a different country each time.
This year the event will be held in Europe (Coimbra, Portugal) where on August 31, professor Sanz-Medel will receive this prestigious award for his relevant and varied contributions to the advance of knowledge and the applications of Atomic and Molecular Spectrometry in different fields (new materials, environment, nanotechnology, biomedicine and clinical analysis).
