Santander Bank will contribute with more than 320.000 euros to the funding of these grants for the University of Oviedo in 2015. The deadline for students and companies will end on January 31.
Santander Bank, through the group Santander Universidades, has launched the fourth call of the ‘Santander-CRUE-CEPYME Grants Programme', which offers 180 grants for students of the University of Oviedo to carry out professional internships at small and medium-sized enterprises in the region for the 2014-15 academic year. This amount means that double of the students may benefit from these grants compared to last year, and responds to the commitment made by Santander Bank, through its Santander Universidades group, in the signature of the collaboration agreement with the University of Oviedo last year.
The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, the general secretary of the Asturian Businessmen Federation (FADE), Alberto González, regional manager of Santander Bank in Asturias, Víctor García, and Javier Castro, one of the grantees in a previous edition of this call, have presented this morning the fourth edition of this programme in the Historical Building of the University of Oviedo.
In Asturias, the programme will grant 324.000 euros this year. Overall, at the end of 2015, this programme will have allowed more than 400 university students from the Principality to carry out professional internships, with the support of Santander Bank which will provide 738.000 euros. Both, companies and students may enroll in the programme until January 31.
The grants, which amount to 1.800 euros each, are promoted by Santander Bank, CRUE (Council of Rectors of the Spanish Universities) and CEPYME (Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium-sized enterprises), represented in this region by FADE. These grants promote professional internships in Asturian micro enterprises, and also in small and medium-sized enterprises for three months, facilitating students to deepen their knowledge, complementing their training and promoting their inclusion into the labor market. The programme allows the SMEs to recruit the most talented students.
The directors emphasized that in this 2015 call, the company´s and professionals´ profiles in demand have become significantly diversified, allowing more degrees to join the programme.
