The University of Oviedo gets closer to the Asturian post-war period through an exhibition and the first edition of the Cinema Classroom, added to the University Extension offerings in the second semester. The Asturian directors Ramón Lluís Bande and Marcos M. Merino will be in charge of conducting the workshop Filmar la realidad, in which the filming process of Equí y n'otru tiempu and ReMine, both awarded in the last edition of the Seville European Film Festival, will be the common thread to show attendants how a documentary is conceived and filmed.

The Vice-Chancellor for University Extension and Communication, Vicente Domínguez, presented this exhibition this morning as well as the new Cinema Classroom, alongside with the Vice-Councilor for Culture of the Principality, Alejandro Calvo, and film makers Ramón Lluís Bande and Marcos Merino.

The Cinema Classroom, open to all the Asturian society, is one of the new offerings of the University Extension catalogue 2015. In its first edition, it focuses on the documentary genre taking as a reference two Asturian films that capture the lives of Maquis in the post-war times and the recent history of the labor movement through the strike of the Asturian mining sector in the summer of 2012. After showing each film (Equí y n'otru tiempu, January 26, and ReMine, February 2) Ramón Lluís Bande and Marcos M. Merino will take the participants in an in-depth analysis of the key parts of the filming and elaboration of a documentary film.

Through weekly sessions until the middle of April, the Cinema Classroom called Filmando la realidad will analyze structures, theories, documentation processes or marketing possibilities to show this type of productions on TV. Registration in the Cinema Classroom is free and the deadline for applications will end on January 25, with a maximum of 80 available places.

In addition, from tomorrow to February 16, the University Extension LAUDEO Cultural Center will host the exhibition Equí y n'otru tiempu, organized in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and focused on the documentary elaborated by Ramón Lluís Bande. The exhibition gathers thirty four large pictures taken in the places where the main members of the guerrilla were assassinated in the post-war period. These pictures were taken during the filming process of the documentary without moving the camera. A series of images joins the video installation entitled Los del Monte, in which the voice of one of the few surviving guerrilla militants describes the ambush he was victim of.
