Corma, Davis and Stucky speak at the Faculty of Chemistry on the development of new materials

Students and researchers crammed the Julio Rodríguez Classroom to listen to the words of the winners of the Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research

The Julio Rodríguez Classroom of the Faculty of Chemistry was not big enough for the reception given to the winners of the Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research, Avelino Corma, Mark E. Davis and Galen D. Stucky. Students and researchers crammed the classroom to listen to the three scientists, who explained the most significant contributions of their research.

The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, welcomed and presented the winners alongside the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, José Manuel Fernández Colinas. The Vice-Dean of the Faculty, José Manuel Costa, acted as the master of ceremonies and was in charge of introducing the winners of the award.

The three scientists focused their interventions in explaining the latest news in terms of development of microporous and mesoporous materials and their applications, a field that has won for them the recognition of the prestigious award given by the Prince of Asturias Foundation.

After finishing their meeting with the students and teachers of the Faculty, Corma, Davis and Stucky, accompanied by the team of the Dean, signed the Honor Book of the Faculty and received a gift to remind them of their time at the University of Oviedo that included a caricature of each of them.
