'Versos para Tragasables' and the collection of poems 'Lugares últimos' win the 4th Literary Contest of the University of Oviedo

Silvia Pérez convinced the jury in the category of Short Story and Diego Álvarez Miguel won the award for best Poem

A touring circus is the setting of Versos para Tragasables, by Silvia Pérez, student of Chemistry, while Lugares últimos gathers the poems in which Diego Álvarez Miguel, who just recently graduated from Telecommunications Engineering, has been working for the past two years. They both have been selected as winners of the 4th Edition of the Literary Contest of the University of Oviedo, in which a total of 37 original works have participated. The award includes €1,000 for each of the winners, and the publication of their books.

Versos para Tragasables is the work that won in the category of Short Story. Silvia Pérez started working two year on this story starred by Mimo and Tragasables and set in a circus. It's a story that, according to its author, has "a piece of the puzzle in each scene". The sentence that starts the novel also ingited the rest of the plot: "When was the last time that you dared to weep stars with someone else...?".

Diego Álvarez Miguel compiled in Lugares últimos his best poems from the past two years. His works had already been awarded in the 2nd Edition of the Literary Contest of the University of Oviedo, that time thanks to Los tres mil cuentos de Marcelino Tongo, written with Jaime Martínez. His latest published work, Un día, tres otoños, has received the Gloria Fuertes Award for Young Poetry.

The jury of the contest, presided over by the Vice-Rector for University Extension and Communication, Vicente Domínguez, was made up by the poet Julio Rodríguez; the professor of the Department of Spanish Philology Virgina Gil Amate; the professor of the Department of Classical and Romance Philology Aurelio González Ovies, and the Director of the Area of University Extension, Leopoldo Sánchez Torre.
