The exhibition, which will open at the Historical Building on July 30, includes a videoforum and free workshops for children between 6 and 12
The history of the design of skateboards through its household names and the emblematic boards from different brands. That is the proposition that a group of students of the Undergraduate Degree in Art History of the University of Oviedo made as their expositive project and which may be seen until July 30 at the exhibition hall of the Cultural Center of University Extension LAUDEO (Historical Building).
The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, inaugurated this morning the Skate Board Design exhibition, designed by Adriana Martín, Laura Pérez, Daniel Rodríguez and Sara Martínez. The Rector encouraged them to continue with their entrepreneurial spirit and highlighted the importance of promoting "the creativity" of students. Furthermore, he praised the initiative of opening the exhibition hall of the University of Oviedo for students to showcase their talents.
The exhibition gathers a set of pieces that show the history of this sports discipline and the evolution it has undergone in the design of skateboards since its beginnings. A group of students of Market, Art Criticism and Exhibition Curation has created this exposition project, which includes workshops and different didactic activities. The proposal Skate Board Design won a contest organized among the students of the subject.
The program of pedagogical activities of the exhibition includes to free workshops for children between 6 and 12 years old that will take place in the exhibition hall on July 11, 12, 25 and 26. Moreover, there will be a videoforum that will show films that cover the evolution of the world of skateboarding. The projections will take place on July 11 and 25 at the Severo Ochoa Classroom between 17:00 to 19:45 and will include the movies Dogtown an Z-Boys and This Aint California.
A jury composed by the director of the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, Alfonso Palacio; the Vice-Rector for University Extension and Communication, Vicente Domínguez; the technician in charge of cultural programs of the Principality, María José Baragaño, and the curator of exhibitions of the Historical Building, Sara Vázquez Canónico, has been in charge of evaluating all the projects submitted.
The exhibition will be open at the exhibition hall of LAUDEO until July 30 between 11:00 and 14:00, and between 17:00 and 19:45 during the week, and between 10:00 and 13:30 on Saturdays. Entrance is free for the general public.
