The Rector presided over the graduation of 13 students of the Program of University for Elder People at the Main Hall
The Main Hall of the Historical Building hosted the graduation ceremony of the 13 students of the University Program for Elder People of the University of Oviedo (PUMUO). The Rector of the University of Oviedo, Vicente Gotor, presided over the graduation, accompanied by the councilor of Social Wellfare and Housing of the Principality of Asturias, Esther Díaz; the General Vice-Director of Caja Rural, Antonio Romero Casado, as the representative of the banking entity that collaborates with the development of PUMUO; the Vice-Rector for Students, Luis Rodríguez Muñiz, and the Director of the Area of Social Projection, Marta Pérez Toral.
Friends and family members accompanied the new graduates during the ceremony. The Rector praise the attitudes of those who have decided to join the University without caring about their age and congratulated them for finishing their studies. Esther Díaz also congratulated the new graduates and highlighted the commitment of the regional government with elder people to provide them with options for an active and healthy aging.
Two representatives of the students spoke to summarize their years at the University as a positive and enriching experience, both in personal and intellectual terms.
The PUMUO Program has a duration of five academic years and has a compulsory section, composed by common subjects for every student, and an optional phase in the form of workshops, and which attends to more specific tastes of each student, and a free offer from the cultural activities developed by the University.
