Asturias will host for the first time HackForGood, an initiative that recognizes the work of developers to create technological applications that resolve social challenges related to social innovation, education and employment
The Telefónica Chair of the University of Oviedo will gather in Gijón 50 social hackers for the second edition of HackForGood, an initiative that recognizes the work of developers to create technological applications that resolve social challenges related to social innovation, education and employment. Gijón, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Sevilla, Valencia and Valladolid will host the second edition of the hackaton, which has planned to gather more than 600 developers to create technological applications that solve social challenges.
The organization poses to the hackers more than one hundred challenges that aim at resolve through new technological applications problems such as a collaborative map of competences and profiles requested by enterprises; developing a mobile application that alerts in real time of the offer of certain profiles; creating a manager of "to-learn" lists that facilitate the control of formative elements or the development of a mobile MOOC. Apart from the challenges posed by the organizers, any person may contribute their own ideas. The new developments may be designed individually or in multidisciplinary teams.
The meeting will take place on April 3-5 in the Building of the Scientific-Technological Building of Gijón. The initiative has been promoted by Telefónica, the Hazloposible Foundation and the MashmeTV startup, with the support of the Network of Telefónica Chairs, which will reward the teams that develop the best technological applications in one of the following fields: Social Innovation, Education and Employment.
Throughout the three days, the teams will work in the development of their applications and they will combine their design with meetings with a Panel of Tutors composed by specialists in the creation of mobile apps, networking, etc. who will share their knowledge and advice with them.
